An honest comparison of the ten tools litigation teams most often shortlist — including our own. A few competitors are better than us at specific things. We say so.
We evaluated each platform across nine criteria that real litigation teams care about: chronology output quality, source-page citations on every entry, speed at scale, deposition summary capability, document Q&A, diagnostic imaging (DICOM), security and compliance, pricing model, and audience fit.
EvenUp MedChrons is the brand most PI firms have heard of. If you want a known quantity that integrates with the rest of the EvenUp demand stack, it's a defensible default. Where it falls short for some teams: pricing is opaque, and depositions and imaging are separate purchases.
Wisedocs and DigitalOwl are the strongest options if your primary use case is insurance claims review or disability review, not litigation. Their chronology outputs are tuned for adjusters, not attorneys — which is a feature if you're an adjuster.
Filevine MedChron and Casefleet are the right call if you already live in those case management systems. Switching is friction, and the integration benefit is real. The flip side: feature depth on chronologies and depositions tends to lag stand-alone tools.
Supio, Eve.legal, and Tavrn are the newer plaintiff-PI-native tools. All three are credible.
Dodonai competes mostly on price. If you're a 1–3 attorney shop and the per-page math works out, it's worth a look.
CaseFrame AI (our platform) is built for medical-legal cases specifically — meaning we do depositions and DICOM imaging in the same workspace as chronologies, not as add-ons. We have no page limits. Where we're not the best fit: if you want a single tool that also runs your case management, intake, and trust accounting, a case-management-first platform like Filevine will serve you better. We're a focused tool.

Shortlist three platforms. For each, pilot the same two cases — one easy (clean modern records, no imaging) and one ugly (mixed handwritten and scanned, multiple providers, imaging studies). Measure time from upload to first usable chronology, corrections per 100 events, source-citation accuracy on spot-checks, and whether the Word export keeps the hyperlinks. After two cases on two tools, you'll know.
Book a 20-minute demo. We'll process a real case with you on the call so you can spot-check every citation live.
